Welcome to Rock. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Rock App ("Rock", "we", "us", or "our") covering your use of the Rock iOS application, our backend services, and anything else we operate that links to these Terms (together, the "Service").
Rock is named after Psalm 18:2 — "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer." Our hope is that the Service points you to scripture that meets you where you are. These Terms set the practical rules that make that possible.
Please read them carefully. By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you accept these Terms.
Rock is operated by Felipe Gonzalez Varona, an individual developer doing business as "Rock App." Felipe Gonzalez Varona is the party responsible for the Service. For any question, or if the operating party changes as the project grows, contact felipe2521.gv@gmail.com.
You may use Rock if you are at least:
If you are below the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have a parent or legal guardian's permission to use Rock. By using the Service, you confirm you meet these requirements.
The Service is not intended for use by children below these ages. If we learn that a child below the applicable minimum age has used the Service, we will close the account and delete the data.
You can use Rock without an account. If you choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple, you are responsible for safeguarding access to your Apple ID. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it if it changes. You are responsible for activity that happens through your account.

Rock helps you find KJV (King James Version) Bible passages relevant to what you are experiencing. You describe a struggle, question, or season of life, and the Service uses an artificial intelligence model — currently Claude, operated by Anthropic, PBC — to recommend scripture passages along with brief commentary, reflection questions, or reflection prompts.

This section is important. Please read it before you rely on anything the Service tells you.
The guidance feature is optional. When you choose to use it, the text you write is sent to Anthropic, PBC so its Claude model can generate a response. By submitting a struggle, you consent to that text being transmitted to and processed by Anthropic for that purpose. If you do not want your words sent off your device, do not use the guidance feature — the rest of the App works without it. How this data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.
The recommendations, reflections, and commentary the Service produces are generated by an artificial intelligence model. They are not written by a pastor, priest, theologian, counselor, or medical professional. They are not reviewed in real time by a human.
AI output can contain mistakes. It can misinterpret a passage, suggest a verse that does not fit your situation, or offer advice that does not apply to you. Use your own discernment. Read the scripture passages directly. When something matters, consult a person you trust.
The Service is not a substitute for:

The Service cannot help in a crisis. A person can.
The KJV scripture references the Service produces come from the public-domain text of the King James Version of the Bible. The scripture itself is authoritative to the extent the user holds it so. The AI-generated commentary and reflection prompts are interpretive — they reflect the model's best attempt and are not a doctrinal statement of any church or denomination.
AI-powered features. Rock's Guidance and Reflect features rely on a large-language model service (Anthropic's Claude). When you use these features, the text you write is transmitted to Anthropic over a secure connection so the model can suggest scripture. Anthropic does not store this text or use it to train models. No additional personal information beyond your submission and your pseudonymous Rock user ID is sent. By using the Guidance or Reflect features, you acknowledge and consent to this data flow. If you do not want your messages sent to a third-party AI service, do not use these features — the rest of the app (Bible, journal, bookmarks, memorize, daily verse) works fully offline-first and never contacts Anthropic.
Rock Plus is our paid subscription. It costs $2.99 USD per month at the time these Terms were written. Prices may vary by region and may change in the future, in which case we will give you notice before any change applies to you.
New Rock Plus subscribers may be offered a 3-day free trial. During the trial, you have full access to Rock Plus features at no charge.
Your trial automatically converts to a paid monthly subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. This is standard Apple subscription behavior. To avoid being charged, cancel before the cut-off. If you purchase a subscription before the free trial ends, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited.
Rock Plus is an auto-renewing subscription.
You can cancel any time:
iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Rock Plus → Cancel Subscription
If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the current billing period. We do not require you to call us, email us, or jump through hoops to cancel. The cancel button is right there in iOS Settings.
All purchases are processed by Apple. We do not issue refunds directly. Refund requests are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. You can request a refund from Apple at: https://reportaproblem.apple.com
In jurisdictions that grant statutory refund rights (for example, the EU consumer right of withdrawal), those rights apply regardless of this section.
If we change the price of Rock Plus, we will notify you in advance and give you a chance to cancel before the change takes effect, as required by Apple's rules and applicable law.
Prices may not include taxes. Apple handles any tax collection where required.
Rock is a place for honest searching. To keep it that way, you agree not to:

The KJV Bible is in the public domain in the United States. In the United Kingdom, the KJV is governed by Crown copyright held by the Crown and administered through the Cambridge University Press; distribution of the KJV is permitted under longstanding terms. We use the KJV text under these rights.
Rock's source code, design, branding, logos, name, illustrations, copy, and the curated structure of its content are owned by Rock App and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own non-commercial spiritual and devotional use. This license does not give you the right to copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works of the App.
You retain ownership of the text you write into Rock — your descriptions, prayer notes, and reflections.
By using the Service, you grant Rock App a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to:
This license exists only to the extent needed to operate the Service. It ends when you delete your content or your account, except for residual copies in encrypted backups that age out on the normal backup rotation schedule.

Rock relies on services operated by other companies:
Each third party has its own terms and privacy policies. Your use of those services through Rock is subject to those terms.
These Terms are between you and Rock App, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. To the extent these Terms apply to the iOS app:
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant that AI output will be accurate, reliable, complete, theologically sound, or suitable for your situation.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; the disclaimers above apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations of incidental or consequential damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Rock App and its operator from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of any law or right of any third party, or (d) content you submit through the Service.
You can stop using the Service at any time. To delete your data, see Section 12 of the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if continued provision of the Service would be unlawful, or if we discontinue the Service. Where reasonable, we will give you notice. On termination, the sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will continue.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Subject to Section 16, the state and federal courts located in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where prohibited by mandatory law of your home jurisdiction (which may protect your right to sue locally as a consumer).
If you live in the EU or UK, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your country, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your home country.
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by emailing felipe2521.gv@gmail.com with a description of the problem. We will try to resolve it within 60 days. Many issues can be solved with a conversation.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the Service and delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
